Sponging ideas on cards

I often forget this simple but striking effect especially for single layer cards.

Split embossed background formal birthday card

I saw this card on Pinterest and just had to make it.
Looks very formal to me and could even be a shower card with a change in the sentiment. Or better yet, a Mother's Day card.

I used a different embossing folder than the originator whose card I really enjoyed.
Embossing folder from Cuttlebug
Scallop Border punch by Stampin' Up
Sentiment and butterfly also SU!
The leave and branch sprig is from Sizzix.

Masculine Birthday Card

I wanted to keep with the beach theme for this birthday card due to a summertime birthday and keep it masculine. This is my current fav stamp set by Stampin up.

Cut a 3 1/2 inch piece of white cardstock and masked off the bottom 2/3rds and sponged the top with a light blue ink, then switch the mask so I could sponge in the water.
Adding a little brown and green to the final lower 3rd allowed me to stamp the birds in the water and the sea grass as well.
Sentiment is raised on foam squares.

Best Wishes

I played off the fancy sentiment to come up with this card.
Sentiment from Stampin' Up
Border punch (love it!) from Martha Stewart
Pearls from SU
Misc ribbon

Thinking of you

Excuse the angle of the picture, was trying to get the embossing of the birds on a wire to show up.
First time using it and it is a striking embossing border folder.

It's Your Day

Simple black and white card
Black card stock border punch from SU
Embossing Swiss Dot from Cuttlebug
Stamp image from SU as well as the sentiment

Hello

After a bunch of scrap pieces leftover, I created this card from a similar card I saw in a very old card magazine.
The butterflies are raised on foam, rhinestone from SU as well as the sentiment

Happy Retirement - Red White and Blue

This came about after I punched out the blue star from the card stock and used it on a previous card... got to thinking that I could make a patriotic card and it turned into this Happy Retirement card.

For you note card

The base card stock is from SU, very subtle yellow (sorry bad with the names they call the colors)
I stamped the hummingbird on textured cs to get the ripple effect as if it was in flight.
Sentiment and bird from SU as wells as the pearls

Bird note cards

I love the back ground papers I used, subtle and light for a sweet note or so.
The flower and bird punch are from Stampin Up
The Embossing folder is from Cuttlebug

Father's Day card

I kept this simple but wanted to add in a left over scrap of gold cardstock I had so used the retired tab punch from Stampin Up and I was told it resembled a wallet... hmmm.. kind of does.

Mother's Day card

Made this with a large border punch from Martha Stewart by punching a 2" white piece of card stock.
Added the sentiment from SU and a tiny rhinestone. The Butterfly is also from SU which I added another rhinestone to the center and raised it on a little foam square.

Wedding shower cards

I was commissioned to make a couple cards for my sister's friend.
She asked for Gold, light green and rose colored cards.

The above picture is the inside to the card below. It opens up to a three fold for sentiment writing.

Star Birthday Cards

I started out with black card stock and punched the star to make an aperture card. Added gems to each point and stamped the sentiment in white ink (that took forever to dry!)

I lined the inside of the card with yellow striped pattern paper. Taking the punched star from the front I glued that star to inside:

This is a fun card for a young person I think... Embossed base yellow card, layered a couple scraps of card stock (White then Red), added a star which I embossed with the same folder as I did on the base yellow card, added a sentiment from SU "Tiny wishes" cut into a shape of a banner.
This one just came together quickly! I love the striking color contrast of the brown and blue.
Star border punched the third layer, sentiment stamped and the textured blue star raised on foam squares.

Sympathy Cards

Sizzix die glued on white card stock. I used the corner ticket punch (retired from SU) and an embossing folder from Cuttlebug
I used various scraps I had to make these.
I like this card, my favorite go to embossing folder - Swiss Dot.
Stampin Up Love & Sympathy stamp set, I used markers to color directly on the stamp and then stamped on the card stock. This card is going to a co-worker who just lost his daughter...
