Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments
I made these years ago and recently wanted to make them again.
You take 1/2 cup of applesauce - (inexpensive store brand all natural is what I used.)
And mix in slowly 1/2 cup of cinnamon (which is a jar about 2 1/2 ounces)
Roll it out under parchment paper till it's 1/4" thick
Take your cookie cutter and cut through (you can make about 6 average size ornaments)
Take a large hole straw and poke a hole before it dries to allow for ornament to be hung)
You can let it air dry which would take 24 - 48 hours but I did both, I had actually cooked a pizza for Friday night dinner and shut the oven off - and left them in the oven turning them every 20 mins. By Saturday they were thoroughly dried which let me decorate this morning.
I used rhinestones and ribbon. You can spruce yours up with beads and glitter...
I was able to make 3 hearts, 5 gingerbread men and one tree with my dough.
I hear folks make them for car and closets deodorizers. (I made a small circle one for my car)
Enterred this in The ABC Challenge J for jewels

I love to make these in school with my students. The classroom smells wonderful for days!
Where do you get that much cinnamon???
Hi Theresa,
It is actually a jar I got from CVS in the spice isle. You can find them in grocery and discount stores - it's about 2 1/2 ounces.
Sheryl,
I love your ornaments.
What a great idea
Thanks for sharing

Stacy
they are adorable I can smell them from here. ha
Great project - thanks for sharing! I just sent this link to my daughter so she, my Granddaughter and I could make them! Also, thanks for the tip about where to find the cinnamon in such large quantities (it would take at least 2 of the little containers in my grocery store to make a 1/2 cup, LOL).
