Cornstarch and baking soda ornaments

My friend and I made these last week as ornaments and package tie ons.

You take 2 C Baking Soda and 1 C Cornstarch combine with a 1 1/4 C of water and cook over medium heat until it's the consistency of mashed potatoes.

Form into a dough mound and roll it out. We experimented with different items such as rubber stamps, doily and textured place mats to get the different - texture.

Trivets

I created these as Christmas gifts for my in-laws.
I bought them from Home Depot in the tile isle.

Stamped on them with the Martha Stewart Butterflies and sprayed seal them with a sealer that goes to 500 degrees.

Added felt squares I picked up from Ocean State Job lot for a quick and fun (useful) gift.

Annual Ornament of my Parents

Since the passing of my father in 2009, each Christmas I make a special ornament for me and my siblings. (My mom passed 40 years ago) So these ornaments are special to me and to my sisters and brother.

This year I re-purpose the packaging from the Sizzix Die and die cut the large Sizzix Snowflake. For mine I added an additional clear snowflake. Large SU Flat back pearls were added to the outer stems of the snowflake, while smaller pearls were added to the inside layer.

Their wedding picture is corner rounded and raised on double thickness of foam squares. Each layer of snowflakes are also attached to each other by a double layer of foam squares.

It was difficult to take a picture of clear plastic, this seemed to be the best... hope you can see the layers,

Coasters gift set

I created this set for my son who is a huge Bruins fan. I cannot wait to give this to him next week for Christmas!

Using tiles I cut out and decoupage the logo to the tiles and sprayed adhesive sealer over the top a couple of times for a protector.

Gift Tags

I made a set of these as a gift by taking a very old Sizzix tree die and die cutting them in various colored cardstock.
Added a to and from tag, inked the edges and glued it to the tree.
Using my Martha Stewart snowflake punch I glued them as well. They are very fragile and I do fear they will snap off. Finished it off by punching a hole and threading embroidery floss to the top.

Bird Cage Ornament

I spent some time tonight making this ornament. It took quite some time but I love how it turned out!

Let me take you through the steps.
Cut three Sizzix Bird cages and score down the middle. Adhere each one into an inverted triangle.
Die cut a Sizzix (SU!) snowflake in clear plastic and using a glue gun adhere the three center seams to the snowflake
Die cut bird also from the cage die in silver glitter card stock, add flat back pearl for the eye and hot glue in place.
Add holly leaves also from a Sizzix die sentiment strip and hot glue in place.

Die cut the sentiment and hot glue to the edges above and below bird.
Add a metal hanger and place on tree!

Tiles

This has been on my craft to do list for some time. I got the opportunity to purchase some tiles at Home Depot and stamp using my Martha Stewart Butterflies. Gorgeous.

Using Mod Podge as a sealer a couple times and felt circles on the bottom made these a striking set.

simple thank you

I made this for a friends of mine whom I visited a few days back. I noticed she had a bike like this as a home decoration so I took the opportunity to make a card.

The bottom I first punched a Martha Stewart heart border punch on the white card stock.
Next I cut out the blue Spellbinders scallop octagon and ran that through the fancy swirl Cuttle Bug embossing folder.

Next I had a few of these bikes already cut in black cardstock (see the first card I made with it) so I glued it to the card and added some flat back SU pearls to the bike.
Closed out the design of the card with a little sentiment from SU Teeny Tiny wishes.

Tree Ornaments

I made these on Saturday and just getting around to posting to my blog.
Using a corrugated piece of card board, I adhered vintage music sheet to it with a glue stick. Ran pieces through the Big Shot using Vintage Tree Sizzix die (very old).

Inked the edges, added a denim star left off from a pair of jeans some I added a button, others I added a fabric red heart. Both dies are also from Sizzix.

Sending Love

This sweet card was sent to my friend in FL. The embossing is a CB folder, the stamped image is from SU as well as the sentiment and label (raised on foam).
The butterflies were punches from shiny glistened paper. Rhinestones for bling, got to have bling!

The sheer ribbon is tied onto the first two layers for a gentle touch. Enjoyed making this quick card from a swap.

Warm Wishes one layer card

I created these cards late last night by just die cutting the Sizzix tree and cutting a piece of card board into the wave of "snow".
By first sponging the snow (blue ink) and masking the tree I was able to create the two layers of snow. Then removing the tree cut out and the snow mounds I put the negative tree cut out over the space and proceeded to sponge in the green and brown to make the tree.

The sentiment is one of those dollar bin wooden mount stamps at Michael's I had in my stash and it stamped beautifully clear!
I added glitter glue to the side of the tree and the snow layers and then accented the two cards one with SU flat back pearls and the other with rhinestones.

Inside of the card I sponged another layer of "snow" with the cardboard mask and blue inked sponge.

Formal Snowflake Christmas Card

I created these layers snowflakes using various snowflake dies, and wanted a different effect by mounting them on black card stock.

I'm calling it a "formal Christmas" (Ha ha)

I added one of those flat dot from Stampin' Up due to the layers in the snowflake as well as the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. To keep with the formal theme, I used the retied SU ticket corner punch. I'm so glad I have one of these punches just for a little accent.

Grateful

I created two of these cards tonight by using the Always Thankful stamp set from Stampin' Up.
I double stamped the image using a brown and then a black ink pad.
I added a glitter gel pen to add glistening highlights. I was fortunate that the light picked it up in the photograph.

The sentiment is raised on foam squares and I used the little flat candy dots from SU as well.

Aperture Christmas Tree Card

I created this aperture card using the framelit die from SU. I die cut it from the old olive card stock to allow for the tree stamp (From Christmas Lodge) to show through.

The tree has 5 little rhinestones on it however the camera did not pick them up due to it being evening here.
The sentiment is cut and raised and accented with the rhinestones.

Simple but elegant. I am well on my way at completing the cards I need to mail on December first!

Trellis layered card

I created this sleek Thank you Card for my daughter to give to a friend.
To create the element, I die cut the trellis from a Sizzix (SU) die in white. Then to create the frame, I used two of the middle to largest dies from Spellbinders scallop octagon.
I adhered the two together and only had to cut a little off the trellis die piece.

Then proceeded to cut the Provo Craft scrapbook paper to match the outer size scallop octagon.
Mounted it on black card base using foam squares.
The sentiment and punches are from Stampin Up.

Snowflake Christmas Card using the negative as background

I cut a 3 ½ x 4 ¾ piece of card stock and using Pacific Point SU ink and a sponge went around the snowflake cut out to give the effect of falling snow.

I then used that snowflake as a center accent raised on foam tape.
The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up which I also inked around the edges and raised on a foam square.
I plan on making several of these to send out this year.

Sympathy Card

Using the QuicKutz die, it was fun to use the SU double sided paper to make the butterfly three dimensional.
My MIL called us last night and informed that an aunt had passed. I created this sympathy card to send, using the SU embossing leaves folder I just got on clearance.  The sentiment is also from SU.

Vintage birthday card

I made this for a friend of mine who turns 50 today.
I fell in love with this Memory Box die and couldn't wait to make a card with it.
I CASE this card off of Google Image and used SU patterned paper.
The center banner is 1 1/4" wide and the centerpiece is raised on foam tape.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is inside (I didn't take that picture)

Cuts about 6 little butterflies and embosses them too with different patterns.

Swap birthday card

I participated in a swap with a few ladies at our monthly card group, last month and this is the card I created using Stampin' Up products. The border punch is from Martha Stewart.

Sorry for the blurry pic, but you can get the gist of it :) I hope.

I rounded the bottom of the card for a different element and added glitter glue to the cherries.

Tri Panel Swing card

My daughter's birthday was Sunday and I created this card using the new Sizzix Stampin' Up swing die.

It took quite a while to make... as it was my first one - lots of cutting and matting. She enjoyed it!

All items used is from SU.

Engagement Card

My Daughter wanted to give her friend an engagement card. This is what we came up with.
Stampin' Up Embossing folder, flat back pearls and sentiment.
The inside is a white on white layer that I used the retired ticket punch and she added a generic Congratulations sentiment and more flat back pearls.

I embossed the base layer with the fancy swirl Cuttlebug folder
The sentiment stamp is from SU and the coloring I used were Gel glossy pens.

Swap card made

We had a shoe-box swap at Elaine's last night.
This is the card I made with the Wetland Stampin' Up set. I just got in on Monday and immediately had to make a masculine (universal) card!

I can't wait to try other techniques as seen in Pinterest and Google with this stamp set.

Card Set

I created this card set months ago but forgot to post it. I picked up this fabulous bird house stamp while I was in Florida last January at one of many craft store my friend Sue and I stopped into. it's made by Hero Arts called Tall Birdhouse

I wanted to create something different so I took the negative of a punched out circle and used it as a stencil to sponge in various colored SU inks on top of the image. My inks I had matched some old card stock I had pretty perfectly! Trying to use up what I have as I don't need any more cardstock or patterned paper.

For the sentiment sections I used various SU punches and left the field blank to add a sentiment as needed.
This set or individual would make great friend to friend cards, birthday cards, a mother's day card etc. Therefore I left it blank for now.

Thank you card received

I received this beautiful thank you card from Judi. I had placed a SU order last week and I received this card this week.

I love the color and the new ruffled ribbon! I don't have that embossing folder and it leaves a deep embossed effect on the whisper white card stock.

Lovely! Thanks Judi.

Turquoise bracelets

I made these two last night while watching TV and trying to keep cool during our heat wave. Today will be 98 degrees. I don't want to be kept inside but might as well keep busy!

I used the same directions as seen here to make them. This time I picked up a tube of turquoise beads from JoAnn's craft store Monday night (thanks for the color suggestion Kristen!) and set out to make these.

Black cording cut at 19 inches
Black sewing thread cut at 36 inches
Sewing needle
Button or bead (this time I went to my glass bead stash I picked up months ago from Michael's)
I used crimper beads, the directions just have you knot it but I had a bag of these crimps so wanted to use them up.
I did two patterns 2:1 and 7:1, total of 38 beads approx for a 7.5" bracelet
