Travel Journal from old jeans

I made this Journal for my daughter who went on a trip. I gave it to her back in November and recorded it prior to presenting it to her and just got the time to upload the video to yt.

I used a pair of her old jeans to make the cover, I sewed the bottom to make a finished edge and also to add the closure.
With other cloth material re-purposed, I cut of the view master (film reel), the star, heart, and pocket. (I used Sizzix dies to be able to cut out the elements.

Please watch the video to see the inside and hope you all make one and re-purpose items as well!

Tree Ornaments

I made these on Saturday and just getting around to posting to my blog.
Using a corrugated piece of card board, I adhered vintage music sheet to it with a glue stick. Ran pieces through the Big Shot using Vintage Tree Sizzix die (very old).

Inked the edges, added a denim star left off from a pair of jeans some I added a button, others I added a fabric red heart. Both dies are also from Sizzix.

Jean bag accent

I used my bag last night at my crochet group I go to on Wednesday nights and the ladies loved the bag.
I also showed them another accent I did to dress up the bag. You can see the full version of the repurpose jean bag here.

I cut (approx.) a 6 inch circle of the left over jeans (leg portion) and hand stitched a running stitch along the outer edge of the circle. Pull the thread to create the yo yo. You will noticed I used the inside (reversed colors) so that it would show up on the pocket.
Then I created this bottlecap accent by gluing this image from etsy of flowers and birds, used glossy dimension to seal the top.
To get it to stay to the fabric yo yo I used E6000 glue and it took approx. 30 mins to set to where I could use a large safety pin and then pin it to the pocket.
It's adorable, I think :)

Quick Jean repurpose into bag

I have not made one of these in a long time. I spent some time this weekend (30 minutes) to create this bag.
My friend gave me a pair of her jeans and I repurposed it into a bag to take to my crochet group on Wednesdays.

I cut off the legs

Turned inside out and sewed 1/4" across the bottom

Boxed the corners at 2"

cut strips of jeans (2") (2 pieces) out of one of the legs and sewed the strips to the top of the waistband.

Added a 2" corresponding fabric for a fashionable belt/bag scarf.

I still have plenty left over to make smaller bags; here is one, I just need to put a snap on it.

Jean Journal

I repurposed the leg of a pair of denim in a a jean journal. I wanted to make it to be more of a momento, thoughts, events time journal.
You can see my video of the outside, the signature pages, and the closure.

Jean Journals

I saw this idea online of repurposing old jeans into a book or journal and couldn't wait to make them. When I find the woman's name I'll edit this post.
I was actually looking for book binding techniques as I wanted to make small journals to sell at a fair I will be doing in the fall.
I cut up card stock and old jeans, binding the pages to the jean and added beads for accents (the woman online did not add beads) I love the dangle of beads!

They a lot of fun to make and may be adding different elements to them. [click the pictures for better viewing]
