Birthday Cards

June also proved to be a busy birthday month.

Double pillar step down card

To create a card to handle the star banner I had to devise a card that would showcase the stars.

After making a previous stair step card, I had to try to make one but in reverse.

Not too bad!
Think I'll use my creation more for banner type cards.

Double Panel Pop out cards

I made two of these cards with a new die I bought.
I've been wanting this die for years and glad this different company made it even better!

The first card is for my friend Louise who invited me to see Tim Hawkins comedy show. Loved it!

 This is what it looks like when it is fully closed. The card inside actually pivots!

This shows the back of the card and the other side of the pivot. The panel you see on the left allowed me to write a sentiment to Louise and John.

While I was making one card I often will make the same card twice with a twist, this card I wanted to send to Kelsie for her first day back to work.

Watercolor fall card

I'm still practicing watercolor stamp set, this card I made and sent to Danny as I know he would appreciate an artsy card.
Using Art Impression stamps, the trees were stamped in brown. The rest I free handed in the road and sky.

Since I've made this card a month ago, I have picked up some water color paints at Michael's and will give that a try.

Thinking of you copper embossed leaves

Using a clear block I rubbed 3 different colors of SU ink and spritz it with water.
Pressed the ink block on watercolor 140 lb cold press paper.

Took copper embossing powder and sprinkled it on these leaves and heat embossed.

Glued the image to recycle calendar pages as I like the bright red and brown colors.

Made 3, mailed 2 to Kelsie as I didn't get to visit this week and the other to her parents.

Girl in field watercolor card

I am continuing to try watercoloring. Since attending the expo I am hoping to get better and understand more of the techniques. This card I made for Kelsie who is in the hospital and wanted to make a non traditional Get Well Card.

I used this old Stampin' Up set (2004) that I just bought for $5.00! called: Summer by the Sea

Here is my new watercolor set I bought at Michaels. I really like how they work even though they are a beginners set. I just need to find my brush set... Any way the paper is a multi media Canson paper; 138 lb. Luckily on Saturday at Michaels this $9.99 pad was on sale (65% off) for under $4.00. perfect timing.

Diamond plate masculine birthday card

 It is Don's birthday today and this is the card I made and mailed (it will be late)

 Using silver metallic cardstock I ran it through the diamond plate embossing folder.

 Using Creative Memories very old punches I made "nuts" . I inked with silver ink and raised them on foam pieces to give dimension.

From the heart

I made a couple of these single layer cards.
Sponging the mask area with these colors.

Then I stamped the flowers~ branch with Wild Wasabi from the stamp set "Watercolor Trio " as well as the sentiment.

French Foliage one layer card

Here's another single layer sponging masked card.

 I punched a square from a scrap piece of cardstock and sponged on one card Purely Pomegranate and on another Concord Crush.

I also stamped the French script stamp in the masked off area with the same stamped color.

 I added leaves using Wild Wasabi

 Then masking off the leaves, I stamped over then with the splatter stamp in Pear Pizzazz

Finished it off with a couple score lines to make a couple note cards.

Far Out Star Trek Birthday card

Dave's birthday card, since the movie just came out this was perfect timing to make this card.

 Far Out sentiment from Stampendous, Happy Birthday from SU Grunge Rock set.

Get Well Wishes

My friend told me his step mom was rushed to the hospital tonight, after praying and receiving an update I wanted to make a card. Being it's 11pm I was able to make this quick 3 layer card.

Envelope is made with a Stampin Up punch, embossing is from a Darice folder, butterflies are a punch from Martha Stewart and sentiment from SU.

Directions on scene card

I made another scene card, this time it was requested that I make a one layer card for a friend. Because of that I was able to take step by step pictures.

 I die cut a 2" circle from a piece of white card stock and temporarily glued it to my base white card.

I placed a scrap piece of card stock to cover / mask off the top 2/3 of the circle.

 Using these three colors I sponged the ocean to the open area of the circle.

 This was the results.

 Taking a 1" circle I temporarily glued it to the left middle of the scene, this will create the setting sun or moon depending on how you view it.

 I then flipped the mask to cover up the ocean to now create the sky.

 These are the colors I used to sponge the sky.

 This is the results. I then took Wild Wasabi ink (not shown) and stamped the sea grass from SU set Wetlands a couple times. I added the sentiment as well, oops a little crooked. Darn.

To finish it off I scored lines all around.

Birthday Fancy Folds Tri-shutter card

I keep forgetting the name of this folding technique, (edited: tri-shutter card)  in any event I made this for a birthday a couple weeks ago fo JoAnn.

What I found to make it easier on layers was to make one solid and one with pattern, then just cut it up and glue. Made less measuring etc.

All paper from my stash, this was one of my favorites I hoarded away.

Medallion is from Spellbinders, edge punching is a border punch from SU, Sentiment from Sizzix

Squares and Scores

A great masculine card, squares, score lines and yes, I added a little bling on the base card.

The squares are old music sheets cut at 1.5 inches, mounted on a 2"strip.
