Cloth covered plastic Dollar Tree candy canes

Saw this on Pinterest where you take the plastic candy canes from Dollar Tree and wrap them in material.
Using my hot glue gun and one inch strips of fabric, start glueing on either on.

Wrap the cane tightly and adding a little glue to hold it in place.
Added a bow and a button.
Here is the lot I made this morning

Snowman blocks

I painted these adorable snowmen on Dollar Tree blocks.
These started out as children alphabet blocks and I painted three layers of blue acrylic paint to cover up the letters that were painted on the side.
I then added a circle of white acrylic paint (this took 3 to 4 coats of white to cover up the blue).
I then painted on the snow on all the remaining sides.
Finished up with the nose and face features.
What I didn't take a pic of what the eye screw and twine hanger.
Made these three to sell in the craft fair.

Dollar Store centerpiece

Dollar Tree Globe
Dollar Tree tea lights
Paint, Glitter, and gold Doilies from Micheal's.

My daughter was in a wedding last month and I created a sample for her as she had to make 9 globe type centerpieces. She told me what she wanted to do and this is what the intent was.

  1. Masked off a line with painters tape and painted 4 layers of gold paint on the bottom third of the globe.
  2. Painted a thin band at the top and added a layer of gold glitter over the paint line before it dried
  3. added sand (not in this picture) and then a tea light
  4. Placed the globe on a gold doilie
The 9 other globes had a variation of glitter sections and paint in different sections and they all looked fabulous and were traveled well to VT.

Right now I have this "sample / prototype" filled with life savers until perhaps Christmas time whee I'll put little string lights and foliage in there. I'll add to this post when I change up the insides.

Dollar Tree pumpkin centerpieces

Starting with the styrofoam pumpkins I cut the center out and painted the outside twice with household paint.

I took a block of floral foam and cut it into 3 pieces and inserted that into the pumpkins.

Using various flowers and foliage I was able to come up with two centerpieces so far.

I am pleased with these as they are small but cute. One of these will go on my dining room table and the other one I'll probably give away as a gift.

Blinged out candle

I bought some small candles and used them for place settings gifts at my Christmas Dinner.

However this one I created especially for my friend whom I stopped by last night.
I wanted to jazz it up so I took this fabulous silver sparkle ribbon and glued it around and made a bow as well.
Then I took a strip of bling (I just bought this at Michael's) and added it above the silver glitter ribbon.
To finish it off, glued on a red jewel.
