Scrabble Tile necklaces

Here are 9 different pieces remade repurposed from old Scrabble game.

 This dragonfly I made for me, I am partial to pink.

 This is what the back of the game pieces looks like.

This one I made for my sister who loves butterflies. I'll mail it this week once the weather cools down (mid to low 90s all week) as a little surprise for her.

revised notebook

I got this pocket notebook from a freecycler, not particularly liking the odd picture and saying on the cover, I revised it.

This is what it looked like and this is what I came up with! I fixed the front as well as the back.

The lock and key I die cut from black cardstock (Spellbinders) and the medallion is Sizzix (Tim Holtz). The little butterfly from SU!
The black elastic holds it together which was the original closure.

4th of July card

With 4th of July coming up real quick, I made this card very late last night.
This is a very old stamp set from Stampin' Up (1999) it was purchased at a consignment store.

A love of bears I have, so I was thrilled to have a couple bear stamps. I colored the image with my SU ink pads and the blender pen.

Embossed the A2 card with the Stars Cuttlebug embossing folder
Cut our the doily from Stampin" Up Sizzix Die
Punch our a flower border with the Martha Stewart doily punch
Raised the image (matted in black cs) using foam.
Mailing this to my daugher today, she's finishing her first clinical at an out patient PT office. She got raved reviews on her performance! Wahoo.

Crochet Flip Flop details

I bought three flip flops at Michael's on Sunday. They were on sale for $1.19 each.
The purpose of my purchase was to use the eyelash type yarn and crochet it on the top area (toe section).
I made these last night at crochet group as I could not remember how to start. The set shown here I created for my daughter.

I plan on making another set for myself, black flip flop with red yarn so stay tuned for that version.

I tried them on and they are very soft and feel like "slippers" so not sure how it will look to wear them in public. What do you think? Perhaps too informal ? Maybe for the beach ? or pool?

Jean bag accent

I used my bag last night at my crochet group I go to on Wednesday nights and the ladies loved the bag.
I also showed them another accent I did to dress up the bag. You can see the full version of the repurpose jean bag here.

I cut (approx.) a 6 inch circle of the left over jeans (leg portion) and hand stitched a running stitch along the outer edge of the circle. Pull the thread to create the yo yo. You will noticed I used the inside (reversed colors) so that it would show up on the pocket.

Then I created this bottlecap accent by gluing this image from etsy of flowers and birds, used glossy dimension to seal the top.
To get it to stay to the fabric yo yo I used E6000 glue and it took approx. 30 mins to set to where I could use a large safety pin and then pin it to the pocket.
It's adorable, I think :)

friend to friend

Using the left over negative piece from the card shown on this post, I used it as the main focus for this card.
Backing the negative portion branch with leaves die cut (Sizzix) with a green and blue pattern cardstock worked great to accent the image. To finish off the element, I added SU white ribbon (my favorite) as it's so easy to work with.

I embossed the base A2 card with Sizzix polka dot embossing folder. Added a couple punches and sentiment from Stampin' Up. The sentiment and die cut are raised on foam squares for dimension.

Quick Jean repurpose into bag

I have not made one of these in a long time. I spent some time this weekend (30 minutes) to create this bag.
My friend gave me a pair of her jeans and I repurposed it into a bag to take to my crochet group on Wednesdays.

I cut off the legs

Turned inside out and sewed 1/4" across the bottom

Boxed the corners at 2"

cut strips of jeans (2") (2 pieces) out of one of the legs and sewed the strips to the top of the waistband.

Added a 2" corresponding fabric for a fashionable belt/bag scarf.

I still have plenty left over to make smaller bags; here is one, I just need to put a snap on it.

God's Beauty

I created this thank you card for my son. He bought me a NIV study bible, it was so thoughtful of him to provide it to me.

I saw a similar card on pinterest and had to make my own version with a twist to it.

I started with the traditional A2 card, then I did not use solid cardstock as seen on Pinterest, but I wanted to ink the 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock to create a scenery back drop.
I then proceeded to cut the top layer (3 3/4 x 5") with a border of 3/4" to create the window (aperture). This is where the fun begins. I cut out the branches using my Sizzix branch with leaves die (yardsale .25!!), I only needed to cut two and they filled the window cutout perfectly.

I then stamped the sentiment (God's Beauty - Stampin' Up) on the bottom of the top layer. Flip the aperture piece over and strategically glue the branches in place.
All is raise on strips of foam for depth. The card may not show it, you can try and click the picture to see the depth.

Card take two

I kept looking at this card I made two days ago, and I just had to re-design it.
I like it much better by re-arranging the key and adding three pink flowers.

Spellbinders for the window and key, SU for the doily stamp, sentiment and pearls.  I like the added pink. I must try this combo more often; pink brown and black.

Beaded bookmarks

I got my NASB this week and made a bookmark from brown hemp, clear and solid glass beads I had in my stash and crosses I picked up I think from Michael's or Wal-Mart.
The first one I made is for a young lady who we sit next to in Church. She has a student bible and thought to make her a bookmark to go with it.

The next one is for me, used same elements but the cross is larger and has my favorite coloring (pink) accenting it. All set for Sunday.
